Ha-ha! Yes, one would think so in regards to the film, at least. Truth of the matter is... I wasn't that crazy about the actual movie at all. Aesthetically, it's beautiful, but structurally... there was room for improvement. It's not intolerable, but it's not fantastic either. There were a lot of things about it that I thought were very generic and/or could have been done better.
The reason why it has such a fan base is because of the character of the Once-ler. He's very dynamic and interesting from a personality standpoint, and his background/history is also most intriguing. The fans have bounced their analyses and hypotheses back and forth, figuring things out or making assumptions on what his past and business life may have been like. While he certainly gets an A+ for looks, it's the actual character and his demeanor that's more appealing than anything.
