Psyche OS X Ch. 11Chapter Eleven
When Alex finally showed up at McCrea's doorstep, Eve was sure that McCrea and Mo were going to be upset with the idea of him coming along to search. But to her surprise, they set out as if they hadn't even seen Alex walk in. Perhaps it was their determination to find WALLE, but she wasn't quite sure of that.
Mo and McCrea pulled out their flashlights and immediately began calling WALLE's name as Eve and Alex stood still in the doorway. Eve looked up at Alex, whose eye was intently set on the black night sky.
"Alex," she softly said, causing him to look down at her. "You... you came at my call."
Alex furrowed his brow. "Yeah... why does that surprise you?"
Eve bit her lip and hung her head for a few moments before speaking. "For a while I... I was actually beginning to believe that you didn't love me." Alex's face fell and he lifted Eve's chin with his hand.
"What made you think that, Eve?" he wondered, locking gazes with her. He noticed tears glisteni
Psyche OS X Ch. 10Chapter Ten
McCrea's entire household had entered into a continuous state of chaos and unease, and it never seemed to dissipate. Now more than ever before, Mo and Eve got on each other's nerves and did nothing but argue. Mo frequently paced on the lawn outside, muttering to himself in frustration. WALLE stood outside Eve's room and whimpered as he listened to her relentless cries of guilt and anguish. And McCrea found himself being pulled in several directions all at once; trying to maintain the peace at all hours of the day, keeping the matters of his business balanced, and attempting to keep Mo out of trouble - not to mention the many hours he put into bringing Eve out of the pit of depression she was in and restoring her back to the bubbly, happy person she once was. To add to the confusion, now there was a baby to worry about. There were already medical bills that needed to be paid as a result of the horrible car accident that had happened just over a year ago, and he

"Uncle McCrea, I'm getting really worried about Eve," Mo confided to McCrea one evening during dinner. Eve had left just a little while earlier, apparently to go out with Alex again. McCrea almost refused to let her go out with that man ever again, especially having learned more about his past; but he had to accept the fact that Eve was an adult and could make her own decisions.
"I know, Mo," McCrea sympathized, leaning forward to place his chin into the palm of his hand. Heaving a sigh, he glanced up to meet Mo's worried gaze. "But there's not much I can do."
Mo sighed and shook his head. "Can't you refuse to let Alex near her? I mean, she is under your care... you should have some say in this matter! Alex is up to no good, Uncle McCrea. He may look all sweet and innocent - but I just know he's-"
McCrea waved his hand. "Now, calm down a minute, Mo," he urged the teen. "Just sit down and breathe for a sec. I know you're worried - I am too

Alex gently led Eve to McCrea's doorstep and let her unlock the door, then placed a hand on her shoulder to look her in the eye.
"I don't know what it is," he quietly began. "There's something about you that makes me different. After we met last week, I haven't been the same."
Eve softly smiled. She was at a loss for words and wasn't sure how to reply. Alex glanced down for a moment and tenderly took her hand, then met gazes with her once again.
"All my life I've felt so empty," he continued, his voice dropping into a whisper. "I've been trapped in one mindset for far too long - but you... you came along and opened up my mind. You showed me that life could be so much more, and that the way I had viewed the world was completely wrong. And you filled that hollow void inside of me." He let go of a small smile. "I just wanted to say thank you for that."
"You're welcome," she replied, her voice just as hushed as his. Alex let go of her hand, placed his hand on the back
Psyche OS X Ch. 7Chapter Seven
June 25, 2817 marked the 12th anniversary of civilization's return to Earth, and every year, this was celebrated by former members of the Axiom and their new families.
But this year was different. McCrea and several of his good friends got together a few days before June 25 to plan a dedication of the town they all lived in. Without much knowledge of what different areas and states were named prior to the massive supership exoduses of 2100, groups of people who lived in certain areas named their own towns, and with the help of some old maps, they were able to distinguish the boundary lines of states and determine which state they lived in.
McCrea, always hungry for knowledge of the world before 2100, did research on the country of America and how it had begun. He read about the voyage of the Pilgrims on the ship the Mayflower, and how in their first year after living in the New World, they celebrated a thanksgiving feast. With a smile, he was reminded

Eve stood in front of a mirror in the bathroom, peering at the mysterious red dots that stood out on her pale skin. Furrowing her brow, she pulled the bangs from her eyes and poked at one. They hurt.
McCrea happened to walk by the bathroom and noticed what Eve was doing. He stopped for a moment and couldn't help but chuckle. She turned his way when she heard him in the hallway.
"What are these annoying red things on my face?" she curiously wondered. McCrea bit back more laughter. Eve's innocent and naïve nature was so amusing; the way she always asked about the world around her.
"Those are called zits," he explained. "And they're not your friend." Eve sighed.
"No kidding," she groaned, trying to fix her hair in a way that would cover them. It was nearly impossible, and she stepped away from the mirror in defeat. "Do zits make me not pretty?" McCrea laughed out loud this time.
"Of course not!" he replied. "But I think I know a way we can cover them up and
Psyche OS X Ch. 5Chapter Five
An intense feeling of new life and energy surged through her body. In that one moment, she wondered if she had ever felt more alive.
She could feel a steady force throbbing inside of her; calling her to awaken. It was unlike anything she had felt before, but it was invigorating and full of energy. What was going on to make her feel like this? Was she being recharged?
No, she was being rebooted. She remembered shutting herself down and leaving everything behind, and she never imagined that she'd ever wake up. That was how she wanted it. Why was she awake now?
Someone was talking. The voice sounded familiar. But who were they talking to?
But the voice that spoke up moments later was as clear as ever. She didn't doubt for a moment who it was...
Her eyes flew open at the word, and she blinked several times once they were open. Something wasn't right about her vision. She shook her head and opened them wider, this time meeting the sad eyes of t
