Nolan looks like he's never seen an iPhone before, but he probably knows how to use one better than his own mother.
You have no idea how good it feels to actually have drawn something good. I get so defeated recently because my drawings have sucked, and I have a hard time getting motivated again after struggling with art for hours. I hopped onto Photoshop the other day and tried doing some Colette studies (since I never draw her). This was the result! 8D
I'll have a colored version available soon. Hopefully this weekend after work I'll get to work on it a bit.
Also if you comment on how bad the hands look, I will literally chop your face in half. I worked for hours on them and couldn't get them to look right - I know they're bad, ok?
I'm not quite sure how old Nolan would be here. I actually started editing this picture the other day because I didn't like Colette's proportions, so I'm trying to fix them. I'd put him at around nine or ten, maybe?
The reason why it's not colored is because this was drawn right around the time we were moving, and my life was entirely upside down. it's just one of those projects I kind of forgot about. :/
thank you so much!! yes faces are so hard but all I can say is practice, practice, practice!!! that sounds SUPER cliche and annoying but I've been steadily practicing on faces for quite a number of years now, and they come so much easier to me now! (: not to say they aren't difficult anymore... they are sometimes! they just become a lot easier to draw!
haha, yes!! Colette would definitely have that attitude towards motherhood. Her baby happens to be a genius of sorts, too.... so she's got that to rub in the soccer mom's faces. "My son fixes computers and builds robots. What do yours do?" xD
Very nice work, red! I love the line art, the shading done on Colette's and Nolan's hair, and the monochromatic color scheme. My only qualm is that Colette seems to be a little too tall in stature. Other than that, great work! You're definitely improving.
aww Mitch, thank you! 8DDD well, Nolan is still young, and not as tall as his mother yet... maybe it's because I probably gave her a longer torso than she actually has. o____o oh well, there are always things to improve in art!
That is so cool!! Colette looks like someone who would own all the latest gadgets. An nolan reminds me of my little sisters who always has to look and know what's someone doing on there iPhone. Great job I love it!!!!
