I haven't drawn Nolan in like a year. Or longer. e___e
I apologize if there happens to be a sudden influx of Ratatouille art... actually, I don't apologize at all. I freakin LOVE this movie and all of a sudden I've been watching it like obsessively again - just like how it was when it first came out on DVD. :') (And what an amazing day that was. dsfjksdf )
I just came across a place on the internet where I can download thousands of 1080p screencaps from Ratatouille, and I've been soaking in them pretty much all week. (And going through them all... it's literally frame-by-frame of the entire movie @__@)
I was inspired to re-draw Nolan, but he ended up looking older than I usually draw him here. I always like to mind-bend with resemblance and so subconsciously, little Colette features ended up coming through Nolan just like I wanted. He kind of has her eyes, maybe even her mouth. (Honestly, stuff like this usually happens subconsciously. I just draw based off of one or two screencaps and my hand just kind of goes from there.
I like to hear feedback on parent-resemblance, so tell me what you think! (:
Oh yeah, and I imagine Colette, when she buys clothes for Nolan, totally dresses him all preppy-like. Seems fitting for her to do something like that.
From my observation and memory, it appears Nolan's got Linguini's nose, ears, and (obviously) hair, and Colette's eyes, mouth and chin.
Is he, uh... illegitimate? And uh... wasn't Linguini supposed to take care of Nolan (If I remember correctly, Colette wanted to abort but Linguini persuaded her not to)? I mean, does she have joint custody? Or does Linguini have full custody and Colette just visits her son occasionally under her 'visitation rights'? Are they de-facto or living apart?
I wonder whether he inherited his dad's klutziness or his mum's l33t skillz?
Oh yeah, art comments... uh... no criticisms. This is a great artpiece with intricate detail and some creative face-mashing!
I really should be drawing more Rio/HTTYD/Rango/Wall-E fanart...
Correct on the features! 8D Yes, he's illegitimate. Yes, Alfredo still takes care of him. Colette does in fact have joint custody but she doesn't see Nolan very often. (That's mainly because she doesn't really want to, unfortunately.) In this case it's really only joint legal custody, since Nolan mainly stays with Alfredo. He does, however, spend a few days with Colette but very rarely, maybe once every other week. She usually makes excuses not to see him.
Nolan is actually an extremely intelligent boy, with a very calm and observational nature. He isn't as clumsy as his father, and doesn't hold high airs like his mother, either. (Though he tends to bend under pressure and tension easily, like Alfredo does.) He has a strong sense of humor, and always seems to know exactly how to make people laugh. While having a calm demeanor he's still very outgoing, and is overall a happy kid. (:
