Higher Calling

The Premise
Destined to be just another member of the BnL Starliner, the Axiom, Brandon McCrea grew up just like any other unimportant human on the ship. But unbeknownst to him, his life was about to take a huge turn, for it was set apart to change the history of mankind forever.

A back-story fanfic; not too many details. It basically follows the movie WALL•E, so I will issue a spoiler alert for those who have not seen it.

_{I hate submitting 2 similar deviations in a row. >< But I really wanted to color this! D:

I probably could have done something better with the background, but whatever. I'm overall happy with how it came out, anyway... though if anyone has BG suggestions, I'll gladly take them and fix it up a bit! C:

Some random facts and stuff about Loki (because I haven't really written about him or drawn him much...):

Loki's relatives on his mother's father's side were all trolls. His mother's mother was a powerful sorceress, who descended from a distant line of giants, black dwarves, and sorcerers. Therefore, his mother doesn't have a drop of human blood in her, making Loki only half-human.

Unlike his mother, Freyja, who is heavily involved in magic, Loki never dabbles in any of it himself. Most of the time he can hardly understand how it works.

Loki gets the strange blue, freckled patches of skin, abnormally large feet, and long, freckled, blue-tipped ears from his troll ancestors.

He loves strawberries and cream.

He's very close to his father, Rowan, since Freyja left him in his father's care when he was about five years old.

Freyja carried Loki in her womb a month longer than a typical human pregnancy. He was born with a head full of dark, curly hair and the beginnings of two front teeth.

In Viking culture, it's disrespectful and not allowed to name children after Norse deities. Freyja naming him Loki is almost a deliberate slap in the face to Rowan's Norse culture, and it becomes another factor contributing to Loki's rejection from the Hooligan tribe.
